Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK AUDIO MODELS 
    1. Check the audio model.

      Result

  2. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers.

  3. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers.

  4. INSPECT FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the L2 speaker connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 10 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the L2 speaker connector.
    2. Disconnect the U44 amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U44-3 (CTR+) - L2-1 Below 1 Ω
      U44-9 (CTR-) - L2-2 Below 1 Ω
      U44-3 (CTR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U44-9 (CTR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 

  6. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the K23 and K62 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K23-1 (TWL+) - K23-2 (TWL-) Approx. 4 Ω
      K62-1 (TWR+) - K62-2 (TWR-) Approx. 4 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. CHECK DEFECTIVE SPEAKER AND VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check which side of the vehicle the defective speaker is on. Also, check if the vehicle is equipped with the LEXUS Link System.

      Result 

    RESULT REFERENCE

    Defective speaker location Specified Condition
    Defective speaker is on right side (with LEXUS Link System) A
    Defective speaker is on right side (without LEXUS Link System) B
    Defective speaker is on left side (with LEXUS Link System) B

    B: Go to  step  10

    A: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (MAYDAY ECU - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER AND FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U30 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the K62 speaker connector.
    3. Disconnect the U45 ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K62-1 (TWR+) - U45-2 (SPO+) Below 1 Ω
      K62-2 (TWR-) - U45-3 (SPO-) Below 1 Ω
      U30-8 (FR+) - U45-10 (SPI+) Below 1 Ω
      U30-7 (FR-) - U45-11 (SPI-) Below 1 Ω
      K62-1 (TWR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      K62-2 (TWR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-8 (FR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-7 (FR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. CHECK STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER (OPERATION) 
    1. After replacing the stereo component amplifier with a normal one, check that audio sound can be heard from the front RH side speaker.

      OK: 

      Audio sound can be heard. 

    NG: REPLACE MAYDAY ECU 

    OK: END (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U30 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the K23 and K62 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U30-2 (FL+) - K23-1 (TWL+) Below 1 Ω
      U30-6 (FL-) - K23-2 (TWL-) Below 1 Ω
      U30-8 (FR+) - K62-1 (TWR+) Below 1 Ω
      U30-7 (FR-) - K62-2 (TWR-) Below 1 Ω
      U30-2 (FL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-6 (FL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-8 (FR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-7 (FR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    OK: REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER 

  11. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the M7 and M1 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 4 Ω

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  12. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the K23, K62, M7 and M1 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      K23-3 (+) - M7-1 Below 1 Ω
      K23-4 (-) - M7-2 Below 1 Ω
      K62-3 (+) - M1-1 Below 1 Ω
      K62-4 (-) - M1-2 Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 

  13. CHECK SPEAKER 
    1. Check the malfunctioning speakers.

      Result

  14. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the S8 and S4 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      1 (+TW) - 2 (-TW) Approx. 4 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  15. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U30 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the S8 and S4 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U30-3 (RL+) - S8-1 (+TW) Below 1 Ω
      U30-9 (RL-) - S8-2 (-TW) Below 1 Ω
      U30-4 (RR+) - S4-1 (+TW) Below 1 Ω
      U30-10 (RR-) - S4-1 (-TW) Below 1 Ω
      U30-3 (RL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

  16. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the O1 and O6 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 4 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  17. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER - REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the S8, S4, O1 and O6 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S8-3 (+) - O6-1 Below 1 Ω
      S8-4 (-) - O6-2 Below 1 Ω
      S4-3 (+) - O1-1 Below 1 Ω
      S4-4 (-) - O1-2 Below 1 Ω

  18. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the U21 speaker connector.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance

  19. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U44 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the U21 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      U44-1 (WFL+) - U21-4 (WF1+) Below 1 Ω

  23. CHECK SPEAKER (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the L2 speaker connector.
    2. Disconnect the U31 amplifier connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U31-3 (CTR+) - L2-1 Below 1 Ω
      U31-12 (CTR-) - L2-2 Below 1 Ω
      U31-3 (CTR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  25. CHECK DEFECTIVE SPEAKER AND VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check which side of the vehicle the defective speaker is on. Also, check if the vehicle is equipped with the LEXUS Link System.

    1. Disconnect the U31 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the K62 speaker connector.
    3. Disconnect the U45 ECU connector.
    4. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      K62-1 (TWR+) - U45-2 (SPO+) Below 1 Ω
      K62-2 (TWR-) - U45-3 (SPO-) Below 1 Ω

      K62-1 (TWR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

  27. CHECK STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER (OPERATION) 
    1. After replacing the stereo component amplifier with a normal one, check that audio sound can be heard from the front RH side speaker.

      OK: 

      Audio sound can be heard. 

    NG: REPLACE MAYDAY ECU 

    OK: END (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER IS DEFECTIVE) 

  28. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U31 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the K23 and K62 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      U31-8 (FL+) - K23-1 (TWL+) Below 1 Ω
      U31-19 (FL-) - K23-2 (TWL-) Below 1 Ω

    1. Disconnect the M8 and M2 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

    OK: Go to next step 

  30. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U30 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the M8 and M2 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U30-3 (WFL+) - M8-1 Below 1 Ω
      U30-9 (WFL-) - M8-2 Below 1 Ω
      U30-4 (WFR+) - M2-1 Below 1 Ω
      U30-10 (WFR-) - M2-2 Below 1 Ω
      U30-3 (WFL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-9 (WFL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

  32. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 
    1. Check that the malfunction disappears when the speaker is replaced with a normal one.

      OK: 

      Malfunction disappears. 

      HINT:

      • Connect all the connectors to the rear No. 2 speakers.
      • When there is a possibility that either the right or left rear speaker is defective, inspect by interchanging the right one with the left one.
      • Perform the inspection above on both LH and RH sides.

    OK: REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 

    NG: Go to next step 

  33. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U31 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the S8 and S4 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U31-6 (RL+) - S8-1 (+TW) Below 1 Ω
      U31-17 (RL-) - S8-2 (-TW) Below 1 Ω
      U31-7 (RR+) - S4-1 (+TW) Below 1 Ω
      U31-18 (RR-) - S4-2 (-TW) Below 1 Ω
      U31-6 (RL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U31-17 (RL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

  35. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER - REAR NO. 1 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the O6, O1, S8 and S4 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S8-3 (+) - O6-1 Below 1 Ω
      S8-4 (-) - O6-2 Below 1 Ω
      S4-3 (+) - O1-1 Below 1 Ω
      S4-4 (-) - O1-2 Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER 

  36. INSPECT REAR HEADER SPEAKER 
    1. Disconnect the V21 and U17 speaker connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 7 to 9 Ω

    NG: REPLACE REAR HEADER SPEAKER 

    OK: Go to next step 

  37. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR HEADER SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the U30 amplifier connector.
    2. Disconnect the V21 and U17 speaker connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance 

      RESISTANCE SPECIFICATION

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      U30-1 (SL+) - V21-1 Below 1 Ω
      U30-5 (SL-) - V21-2 Below 1 Ω
      U30-2 (SR+) - U17-1 Below 1 Ω
      U30-6 (SR-) - U17-2 Below 1 Ω
      U30-1 (SL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-5 (SL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-2 (SR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      U30-6 (SR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    2. Disconnect the U21 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
