Inspection Procedure

  1. CHECK BACK-UP LIGHT 
    1. Move the shift lever to the R position and check if the back-up light comes on.

      OK: The back-up light comes on. 

    NG: GO TO  LIGHTING SYSTEM 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE) 
    1. Enter the "Display Check" mode (Vehicle Signal Check Mode) (See DISPLAY CHECK MODE ).
    2. Check that the display changes between ON and OFF according to the shift lever operation (P and R).

      OK 

      VEHICLE SIGNAL (DISPLAY CHECK MODE)

      Except R OFF

    HINT:

    This display is updated once per second. As a result, it is normal for the display to leg behind the actual change in the switch.

    OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  3. INSPECT MULTI-DISPLAY 
    1. Disconnect the multi-display connector J50.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in MULTI-DISPLAY  .

      Standard voltage 

      MULTI-DISPLAY

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      REV - Body ground Engine switch is on (IG). Shift lever is moved to R position. 10 to 14 V
      REV - Body ground Engine switch is on (IG). Shift lever is moved to any position except R. Below 1 V

    OK: REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY 

    NG: Go to next step. 

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-DISPLAY - COWL SIDE J/B LH) 
    1. Disconnect the multi-display connector J50 and cowl side J/B LH connector Q2.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in MULTI-DISPLAY - COWL SIDE J/B LH  .

      Standard resistance 

      MULTI-DISPLAY - COWL SIDE J/B LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      REV - Back Always Below 1 ohms
      REV - Body ground Always 10 k ohms or higher

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step. 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (JUNCTION CONNECTOR - COWL SIDE J/B LH) 
    1. Disconnect the main body ECU LH (cowl side J/B LH) connector LJ.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in TESTER CONNECTION AND SPECIFIED CONDITION TABLE  .

      Standard voltage 

      JUNCTION CONNECTOR - COWL SIDE J/B LH

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      BKUP - Body ground Engine switch is on (IG). Shift lever is moved to R position. 10 to 14 V
      BKUP - Body ground Engine switch is on (IG). Shift lever is moved to any position except R. Below 1 V

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: REPLACE COWL SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK LH
