Shift Lever Position Sensor: Installation

  1. INSTALL PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH 
    1. Install the park/neutral position switch to the hybrid vehicle transmission assembly
    2. Temporarily install the 2 bolts.

      HINT.

      Fully tighten the bolts with the neutral alignment mark line aligned with the groove. [*1]

    3. Install a new lock washer and the nut.

      Torque: 6.9 N*m (70 Kgf*cm, 61 in.*lbf)

    4. Temporarily install the control shaft lever with the nut

      HINT.

      Bend the tabs of the lock washer before fully tightening the nut [*2]

    5. Turn the control shaft lever counterclockwise until it stops Next, turn the control shaft lever clockwise 2 notches to set it to the N position

    6. Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever

    7. Align the neutral alignment mark line with the switch groove, and tighten the 2 adjusting bolts. [*1]

      Torque: 5.4 N*m (55 kgf*cm, 48 in.*lbf)

    8. Using a screwdriver, bend the tabs of the lock washer.
      NOTE: Make sure that the nut is held firmly.

    9. Install the transmission control shaft lever with the nut [*2]

      Torque: 16 N*m (163 kgf*cm, 12 ft.*lbf)

    10. Connect the park/neutral position switch connector.

  2. INSTALL FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Move the shift lever to the N position and tighten the nut while lightly pushing the lever toward the R position

      Torque: 13 N*m (130 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

      NOTE: Do not push the shift lever too hard.

  3. INSTALL OIL COOLER TUBE 
    1. Install the oil cooler tube with the 3 bolts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf)

  4. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE: When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected (See INITIALIZATION ).
  5. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER POSITION  (See ADJUSTMENT  )
  6. INSPECT PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH POSITION  (See ADJUSTMENT  )
  7. ADJUST PARK/NEUTRAL POSITION SWITCH POSITION  (See ADJUSTMENT  )
  8. INSPECT SHIFT LEVER OPERATION  (See ADJUSTMENT  )
  9. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER  (See INSTALLATION )
  10. INSTALL FRONT FLOOR COVER CENTER  (See INSTALLATION )
  11. INSTALL BATTERY SERVICE HOLE COVER LH  (See INSTALLATION )
  12. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT MAT SUB-ASSEMBLY  (See INSTALLATION )
