Brake Override System: Procedure

  1. CHECK DTC OUTPUT (HEALTH CHECK) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: System Select / Health Check.
    4. Check DTCs.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      No DTCs are output. A
      DTCs are output. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → GO TO DTC CHART 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (MASTER CYLINDER CTRL TRQ) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Master Cylinder Ctrl Trq.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Master Cylinder Ctrl Trq Master cylinder control torque/
      Min.: -4096 Nm, Max.: 4095 Nm
      Brake pedal depressed: Changes with the brake pedal pressure
      Brake pedal released: 0 Nm

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Displayed value changes according to the brake pedal pressure. A
      Displayed speed value does not change according to the brake pedal pressure. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   8 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (ACCEL PEDAL POS #1, ACCEL PEDAL POS #2) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Accel Pedal Pos #1, Accel Pedal Pos #2.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Accel Pedal Pos #1 Accelerator pedal position sensor No. 1/
      Min.: 0%, Max.: 100%
      Accelerator pedal released → depressed → released: Changes with accelerator pedal pressure
      Accel Pedal Pos #2 Accelerator pedal position sensor No. 2/
      Min.: 0%, Max.: 100%

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Displayed speed values smoothly changes following accelerator pedal operation. A
      Displayed speed values does not smoothly change following accelerator pedal operation. B
    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   7 

    A: Go to next step 

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (VEHICLE SPD) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Hybrid Control / Data List / Vehicle Spd.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      Vehicle Spd Vehicle speed/
      Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 158 mph (255 km/h)
      Vehicle stopped: 0 mph (0 km/h)
      No large fluctuations when driving at a constant speed: Vehicle running at constant speed between 10 to 40 mph (16.1 to 64.4 km/h)

      Displayed speed value does not fluctuate. A
      Displayed speed value fluctuates. B
      WARNING:

      Perform this road test only in an appropriate safe location, in accordance with all local laws.

      HINT: 

      Data can be captured relatively easily by using the snapshot function in the Data List. Confirm the data after performing the drive test.

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FR, FL, RR, RL WHEEL SPEED) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the power switch on (READY).
    3. Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/TRAC / Data List / All Data / FR Wheel Speed, FL Wheel Speed, RR Wheel Speed and RL Wheel Speed.
    4. Read the value displayed on the Techstream.
      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition
      FR Wheel Speed Front speed sensor RH /
      Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 202 mph (326 km/h)
      Vehicle stopped: 0 mph (0 km/h)
      No large fluctuations when driving at a constant speed: Vehicle running at constant speed between 10 to 40 mph (16.1 to 64.4 km/h)
      FL Wheel Speed Front speed sensor LH /
      Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 202 mph (326 km/h)
      RR Wheel Speed Rear speed sensor RH /
      Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 202 mph (326 km/h)
      RL Wheel Speed Rear speed sensor LH /
      Min.: 0 mph (0 km/h), Max.: 202 mph (326 km/h)

      Result

      Displayed speed value fluctuates. B
      WARNING:

    5. Turn the power switch off.

    B → INSPECT FRONT OR REAR SPEED SENSOR 

    A → END 

  6. GO TO METER / GAUGE SYSTEM. Refer to  Speed Signal Circuit 
  7. REPLACE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SENSOR ASSEMBLY. Refer to  COMPONENTS 
  8. CHECK BRAKE BOOSTER WITH MASTER CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION
