How To Proceed With Troubleshooting

- Use these procedures to troubleshoot the engine immobilizer system.

- INSPECT BATTERY VOLTAGE
Standard voltage
11 to 14 V
- If the voltage is below 11 V, recharge or replace the battery before proceeding.
NEXT: Go to next step
- CRANK ENGINE FOR MORE THAN 10 SECONDS
NEXT: Go to next step
- CHECK FOR DTC*
- Check for DTCs and make a note of any codes that are output. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Clear the DTC. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
- Recheck for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR . Based on the DTCs output above, try to cause the output of the same SFI system DTC, LIN communication system DTC, steering lock system DTC or engine immobilizer system DTC by simulating the symptoms indicated by the DTC.RESULT:
Result Proceed to DTC is not output A SFI system DTC is output B LIN communication system DTC is output C Steering lock system DTC is output D Engine immobilizer system DTC is output E B → Go to SFI SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
C → Go to LIN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
D → Go to STEERING LOCK SYSTEM. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
E → Go to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART. Refer to DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART
