System Description

  1. GENERAL 
    1. This system has a front television camera assembly to display the front view of the vehicle on the display and navigation module display.
    2. This system consists of the following components:
      1. Front television camera assembly
      2. Parking assist ECU
      3. Display and navigation module display
      4. Main body ECU
      5. Skid Control ECU
      6. Front and side monitor main switch
    3. This system is equipped with a self-diagnosis system, which is operated on a designated window that appears on the display panel, just as in the navigation system.
  2. FUNCTION OF COMPONENTS 
    1. The parking assist ECU controls the system by using information from the following components.
      Item Function
      Front Television Camera Assembly
      • Transmits the front view of the vehicle to the parking assist ECU.
      • Has a color video camera that uses a Charge Coupled Device (CCD) and a wide-angle lens.
      Parking Assist ECU
      • Transmits video signals, which contain a composite consisting of the front view of the vehicle taken with the front television camera, to the display and navigation module display.
      • Performs overall control of the system by receiving signals from the sensors and display and navigation module display.
      Display and navigation module display Receives the video signals containing a composite of the passenger side view of the vehicle from the parking assist ECU, and displays them on the display panel.
      Outer Mirror Switch Transmits outer mirror switch signal to the parking assist ECU.
      Front and Side Monitor Main Switch Transmits the front and side monitor main switch signal to the parking assist ECU.
      Skid Control ECU Transmits a vehicle speed signal to the parking assist ECU.
  3. OPERATION EXPLANATION 
    1. The front and side monitor main switch ON signal is sent from the front and side monitor main switch to the parking assist ECU.

      After receiving the front and side monitor main switch ON signal, the parking assist ECU switches the display signal for the display and navigation module display from the navigation system to the wide view front monitor system.

  4. DISPLAY CONDITIONS FOR FRONT MONITOR DISPLAY

      1. After the display conditions have been met while the wide view front monitor system and the side monitor system are operating normally (when no DTCs are output), the wide view front and side monitor screen will be the initial display in both manual and automatic modes.

        HINT: 

        • When the shift lever is in a position other than R, and the wide view front and side monitor screen displays the change display mode switch or the automatic mode set / cancel switch, the following operations are possible.
        • Change display mode button.

          3 3 is grayed out While the wide view front and side monitor screen is displayed, pressing the front and side monitor main switch will change to either the wide view front monitor or the side view monitor displays (the specific transition will depend on the last mode displayed).
          2 2 is grayed out While the wide view front and side monitor screen is displayed, pressing the front and side monitor main switch will change to the navigation screen, the information configuration screen, or similar.

    2. Display conditions for manual display mode (Shift lever in a position other than R)

      *1 Navigation display etc. *2 Wide view front and side monitor screen

      1. During manual display mode (shift lever in a position other than R), during IG ON or engine startup (no DTCs are output), if the following conditions have been met, pressing the front and side monitor main switch will change the display mode as follows.

        HINT: 

        *1: In this case, the side monitor display is in path line deletion mode.

    3. Display conditions for manual display mode (Shift lever in R)

      *1 Rear view monitor display *2 Wide view front and side monitor display
      1. During manual display mode (shift lever in R position), during IG ON or engine startup (no DTCs are output), if the following conditions have been met, pressing the front and side monitor main switch will change the display mode as follows.
        Display Screen Vehicle Speed Screen
        (changes due to front and side monitor main switch operation)
        Rear view monitor display 12 km/h (7.5 mph) or less Rear view monitor display → Wide view front monitor and side monitor display → Rear view monitor display
    4. Display conditions for automatic display mode
      1. In automatic display mode, the side monitor system automatically changes the displayed image depending on the vehicle conditions while the following conditions are met and the system is operating normally (no DTCs output).

        • *1: Screen changes and screen transition conditions after the screen is automatically changed are the same as those for manual display mode (shift lever in a position other than R).
  5. COMMUNICATION SYSTEM OUTLINE 
    1. The components of the wide view front monitor system communicate with each other through the AVC-LAN.
    2. If a short circuit or open circuit occurs in the AVC-LAN, communication is interrupted and the side monitor system will stop functioning.
  6. DIAGNOSTIC FUNCTION OUTLINE 
    1. This wide view front monitor system has a diagnostic function displayed in the display and navigation module display. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
    2. The system can check the following items by using the Techstream.
