Steering Angle Sensor Communication Stop Mode [04/2013 - 10/2016]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS LINES (STEERING SENSOR BRANCH LINE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.
    2. Disconnect the K29 or K30 steering sensor connector.

      *A w/o VGRS System
      *B w/ VGRS System
      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Steering Sensor)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      W/O VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K29-3 (CANH) - K29-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω
      W/ VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K30-3 (CANH) - K30-2 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      Result

      Result 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE CAN BRANCH LINE OR CONNECTOR (STEERING SENSOR) 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      *B w/ VGRS System

      (to Steering Sensor)

      Standard Resistance

      W/O VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K29-1 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
      W/ VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K30-1 (ESS) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      W/O VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K29-4 (IG1) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      K29-8 (BAT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
      W/ VGRS SYSTEM

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      K30-4 (IG1) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      K30-5 (BAT) - Body ground Always 11 to 14 V
