Control Switches
Check main feed fuse and stop light fuse. If okay, disconnect 6-way connector at amplifier assembly. See Fig 1 and perform the following checks:
- Connect a voltmeter between Circuit 57B LB/BK and ground. Depress "ON" button and check for battery voltage.
- Connect an Ohmmeter between Circuit 57B LB/BK and ground.
- Rotate steering wheel throughout it's full range while making the following checks:
- Depress the "OFF" button and check for a reading between zero and 1 Ohm.
- Depress "SET ACCEL" button and check for a reading between 714 and 646 Ohms.
- Depress "COAST" button and check for a reading between 126 and 114 Ohms.
- Depress the "RESUME" button and check for a reading between 2310 and 2090 Ohms.
If the resistance values at any time are outside of bands, remove steering wheel, and check resistance at the steering wheel switch connector on the hub. If OK, clean slip rings and brush contacts with a suitable solvent and lubricate with Ford Slip Ring grease E1AZ-19590-A (or equivalent).
If resistance values are above the allowable limits, check switch assemblies and ground circuit.
Reconnect the 6-way connector at amplifier.
