Removal and Replacement

Powertrain Control Module:






REMOVAL

1. Disconnect negative battery cable.

2. Remove Powertrain Control Module (PCM) electrical connector retainer bolt.

3. Remove electrical connector from PCM.

4. Remove PCM bracket support (12B522) screw, located forward of the glove box.

5. Remove PCM bracket support and and remove PCM.

INSTALLATION

1. To install, reverse removal procedure.

2. Tighten PCM retainer screw to 2.7-3.7 Nm (24-32 in lb).

3. Tighten electrical connector retainer bolt to 3.7 Nm (32 in lb).

NOTE: When the battery has been disconnected and reconnected, some abnormal drive symptoms may occur while the powertrain control module relearns its adaptive strategy. The vehicle may need to be driven 10 miles or more to relearn the adaptive strategy.
