Pinpoint Test E: EVO Control Module Diagnosis
- Control Module Speed Signal Acceptance Check
Connect STAR tester. Turn air suspension off. Enter FUNCTION TEST 228. Drive vehicle at speeds greater than 10 MPH. Compare speed displayed on speedometer with speed displayed on STAR tester. If displayed speeds are the same, go to PINPOINT TEST C
, step 1). If displayed speeds are not the same, go to next step
- Speed Sensor Continuity Check
Ensure air suspension is off. Unplug speed sensor connector. Using an ohmmeter, measure resistance between speed sensor terminals. If resistance is 180-240 ohms, reconnect speed sensor connector. Go to next step. If resistance is not as specified, replace speed sensor and repeat auto test.
- Speed Sensor-To-Control Module Continuity Check
Unplug EVO control module Black connector and speed sensor connector. Check continuity of circuits No. 150 (Dark Green/White wire), No. 359 (Gray/Red wire) and No. 679 (Pink/Orange wire) between EVO control module connector and speed sensor connector. If no continuity exists, repair suspect wire(s) and repeat auto test. If continuity exists, go to next step.
- Speed Sensor Circuit Continuity Check (180-240 Ohms)
Unplug EVO control module Black connector. Connect speed sensor connector. Connect ohmmeter to circuits No. 150 (Dark Green/White wire) and No. 359 (Gray/Red wire) at EVO control module Black connector. If resistance is 180-240 ohms, replace EVO control module. Repeat auto test. If resistance is not as specified, go to next step.
- Speed Sensor Circuit Continuity Check (Less Than 180 Ohms)
Unplug EVO control module Black connector. Connect speed sensor connector. Connect ohmmeter to circuits No. 150 (Dark Green/White wire) and No. 359 (Gray/Red wire) at EVO control module Black connector. If resistance is less than 180 ohms, repair circuits No. 150 and/or No. 359 as necessary. Repeat auto test. If resistance is 180 ohms or greater, go to next step.
- Speed Sensor Circuit Continuity Check (Greater Than 240 Ohms)
Unplug EVO control module Black connector. Connect speed sensor connector. Connnect ohmmeter to circuits No. 150 (Dark Green/White wire) and No. 359 (Gray/Red wire) at EVO control module Black connector. If resistance is greater than 240 ohms, repair circuits No. 150 and/or No. 359 as necessary. Repeat auto test. If resistance is 240 ohms or less, repeat auto test.
