Test U: Easy Entry/Exit Does Not Work Properly
- Test Seat Operation - Operate driver seat in all directions. If driver seat operates smoothly and completely in all directions, go to next step. If seat does not operate smoothly and completely in all directions, repair driver seat. See SYMPTOM CHART under SYSTEM TESTING.
- Test Steering Column Operation - Operate steering column through all positions. If steering column operates smoothly and completely, go to next step. If steering column does not operates smoothly and completely, repair steering column. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Test For System Enabled - Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Select easy exit/entry function on message center display. If easy exit/entry function is enabled, go to next step. If easy exit/entry function is not enabled, enable easy exit/entry function. Instruct customer on proper operation.
- Test Easy Exit Operation - Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Ensure that driver seat is at least 2 inches from rear stop. Turn ignition off and remove key. If driver seat does not move rearward approximately 2 inches, go to next step. If driver seat moves rearward approximately 2 inches, go to step 7).
- Test PID IGN_SCI - Connect NGS tester to data link connector. Access steering column/ignition/lighting control module PID IGN_SCI and IGN_KEY. Turn ignition off one position at a time, while observing NGS tester display PID IGN_SCI. Remove key while observing PID IGN_KEY. If NGS tester display reads OFF, ACCSSY, RUN, START and OUT when key is in that position, go to next step. If NGS tester display does not read OFF, ACCSSY, RUN, START and OUT when key is in that position, repair ignition switch. See STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES article.
- Test DTCs - Using NGS tester, execute driver seat module self-test. If DTC U1135 is not retrieved, replace driver seat module. If DTC U1135 is retrieved, test steering column/ignition/lighting control module. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
- Test Easy Entry - Turn ignition off and remove key. Exit vehicle and close driver door. Wait at less 10 seconds, enter driver side and close door. If seat does not move forward approximately 2 inches, go to next step. If seat moves forward approximately 2 inches, system is operating properly.
- Test Steering Column/Ignition/Lighting Control Module DTCs - Using NGS tester, execute steering column/ignition/lighting control module self-test. If DTCs B1566 or U1199 are not retrieved, go to next step. If DTCs B1566 or U1199 are retrieved, test steering column/ignition/lighting control module. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
- Test Driver Seat Module DTCs - Using NGS tester, execute driver seat module self-test. If DTC U1199 is not retrieved, replace driver seat module. If DTC U1199 is retrieved, test steering column/ignition/lighting control module. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article.
