Test C: No Communication With The Module - EVO Control Module

  1. Perform Auto Test

    Perform Auto Test. See AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Make sure the air suspension switch is ON. If the function test codes 211 through 228 are continuously displayed, connector C205 Pin No. 425 (Brown/Pink wire), is not at ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Possibly caused by the air suspension switch or involved circuitry. Are DTCs 211 through 228 displayed? If yes, go to step  7 . If no, go to next step.
  2. Check For DTC's

    Perform Auto Test. See AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Perform the Auto Test and check for DTCs. Are any DTCs retrieved? If yes, see DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE INDEX  . If no, go to next step.
  3. Check Pin No. 418 (Dark Green/Yellow Wire) For Battery Voltage

    Turn key OFF. Disconnect EVO Control Module C204. Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 1 (Dark Green/Yellow wire), and ground. See Figure . Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 21 (Dark Green/Yellow wire), and ground. See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the voltage greater than 10 volts on both circuits? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Circuit No. 418 (Dark Green/Yellow wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  4. Check Pin No. 4 (Pink/Orange Wire) For Voltage

    Turn key to RUN. Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 4 (Purple/Orange wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the voltage greater than 10 volts? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 4 (Purple/Orange wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  5. Check Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green Wire) For Ground

    Turn key OFF. Disconnect EVO Control Module C205. Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  6. NOTE: To access Message Center connectors, remove instrument cluster finish panel. See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER FINISH PANEL  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION.
    NOTE: A short to ground in Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) will cause CHECK AIR RIDE to be displayed in the message center, even if no air suspension system damage exists.

  7. Check Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green Wire)
    Disconnect Driver Information/Message Center connector C208. C208 is 16-pin connector. See Figure . Turn key to RUN. Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is any voltage indicated? If yes, repair Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no, go to next step.
  8. Isolate Short To Ground

    Turn key OFF. Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  9. Check Air Suspension Steering Test Connector Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green Wire)

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire) and steering and suspension diagnostic test connector C117, Pin No. 4 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 12 (Dark Green/Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  10. Check Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red Wire)

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red wire) and steering and suspension diagnostic test connector C117, Pin No. 5 (Gray/Red wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. No. 6 (Gray/Red wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  11. Check Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red Wire) For Short To Ground

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red wire) for short to ground. Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  12. Check Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red Wire) For Short To Power

    Turn key to RUN. Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C204, Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is any voltage indicated? If yes, repair Pin No. 6 (Gray/Red wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no, go to next step.
  13. Check Pin No. 29 (Light Green Wire) For Open

    Turn key OFF. Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire), and steering and suspension diagnostic test connector C117, Pin No. 1 (Light Green wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  14. Check Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue Wire) For Open

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module C205, Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire), and steering and suspension diagnostic test connector C117, Pin No. 3 (Orange/Light Blue wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  15. Check Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue Wire) & Pin No. 29 (Light Green Wire) For Short To Power

    Turn key to RUN. Measure the voltage between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire), and ground; and connector C205, Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is any voltage indicated? If yes, repair Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire) or Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no, go to next step
  16. Check Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue Wire) & Pin No. 29 (Light Green Wire) For Short To Ground

    Turn key OFF. Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire), and ground; and connector C205, Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 13 (Orange/Light Blue wire) or Pin No. 29 (Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  17. Check Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green Wire)

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green wire), and steering and suspension diagnostic test connector C117, Pin No. 2 (Black/Light Green wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance 5 ohms or less? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 32 (Black/Light Green wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  18. NOTE: Air suspension switch is in left side of trunk, behind trim cover.

  19. Check Air Suspension Switch
    Disconnect Air Suspension ON/OFF Switch C458. See Figure . Measure the resistance between two terminals on the air suspension switch. Make sure the air suspension switch is in the ON position. Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, replace the air suspension switch. Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  20. Check Pin No. 1 (Black Wire)

    Measure the resistance between the air suspension switch C458, Pin No. 1 (Black wire), and ground. See Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? If yes, go to next step. If no, repair Pin No. 1 (Black wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
  21. Check Pin No. 11 (Black/Pink Wire) For An Open

    Measure the resistance between EVO control module connector C205, Pin No. 11 (Black/Pink wire), and air suspension switch C458, Pin No. 3 (Black/Pink wire). See Figure and Figure . See WIRING DIAGRAMS  . Is the resistance 5 ohms or less? If yes, replace the EVO control module. See EVO CONTROL MODULE  under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If no, repair Pin No. 11 (Black/Pink wire). Repeat AUTO TEST  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
