Description & Operation
The module communications network provides the ability for module-to-module communication. Instead of each component having an input and output wired directly to each module, modules communicate by shared inputs and outputs. Vehicle has two module communication networks, the Standard Corporate Protocol (SCP) network and the International Standards Organization (ISO) 9141 network.
SCP network consists of a pair of twisted wires, one positive and one negative, which transfer information between modules. The SCP network is routed throughout the vehicle to each module except the Restraint Control Module (RCM).
The RCM uses the ISO 9141 network for communications duties. Both networks are connected to the Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below driver's side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. For module locations, see COMPONENT LOCATIONS .
