Module Configuration
WARNING:
New modules require configuration of vehicle data after installation. Prior to removing any configured module, configuration data must be retrieved and transferred to replacement module. All replacement modules will be packaged in a kit which contains a warning label and multi-language instruction sheet emphasizing requirements for replacement module configuration. New generation star tester will not retain stored configuration information for longer than 24 hours.
NOTE:
Powertrain control module has to be flash programmed using a flash cable.
A Ford compatible scan tool must be used to retrieve configuration data from old module prior to removal. This information must be transferred to replacement module. For module configuration, perform the following procedures:
- Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester with Ford Service Function (FSF) card, or compatible generic scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, to right of steering column. Select screen prompt for PROGRAMMABLE MODULE INSTALLATION, then RETRIEVE MODULE CONFIGURATION - OLD ECU. Follow screen prompts until configuration data transfer is successful. Remove old module from vehicle.
- Install NEW module. Select screen prompt for RESTORE MODULE INSTALLATION - NEW ECU. Follow screen prompts until configuration data transfer is successful.
