Spare Key Programming Switch

NOTE: Spare key programming switch is not a visible mechanical switch. A New Generation Star (NGS) tester is necessary to enable and disable this switch. The state of this switch can be viewed with NGS tester by accessing Powertrain Control Module (PCM) PID SPARE_KEY.

Insert a programmed ignition key into ignition switch. Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Connect New Generation Star (NGS) tester to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located below left side of instrument panel, right of steering column. Perform security access procedure. See SECURITY ACCESS  . Using NGS tester, toggle SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH to desired position.
