Test A: No Communication With Front Electronics Module
NOTE:
After any repairs are complete, ensure all component are properly installed and all harness connectors are connected properly and repeat data link diagnostic test. See DATA LINK DIAGNOSTIC TEST under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in appropriate MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article.
NOTE:
Cycle ignition switch from LOCK to RUN position to enable Switched System Power (SSP) feature.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect Front Electronic Module (FEM) 12-pin harness connectors C201c. Disconnect FEM 20-pin harness connector C201f. FEM is located behind driver's side kick panel. See Fig 1 . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Measure voltage between ground and FEM harness connector C201c terminal No. 6 (Orange/Green wire). See Fig 2 . Measure voltage between ground and FEM harness connector C201f terminal No. 1 (Orange/Yellow wire). If both voltages are 10 volts or more, go to next step. If either voltage is less than 10 volts, repair power distribution circuit as necessary. See POWER DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS. Clear DTCs. Retest system operation.
- Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Disconnect FEM 17-pin harness connector C201a. Measure resistance between appropriate FEM harness connector terminals and ground. See FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
table. If all resistances are less than 5 ohms, repair module communications concern. See MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK - LS article. If any resistance is 5 ohms or more, repair open in appropriate ground circuit. See GROUND DISTRIBUTION article in WIRING DIAGRAMS.FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE TERMINAL IDENTIFICATION
