Programming New Restraints Control Module

NOTE: When new Restraints Control Module (RCM) is installed in vehicle, it must be reprogrammed for applicable vehicle configuration.
  1. Ensure all air bag system components are properly installed and negative battery cable is connected. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). See USING SCAN TOOL . Turn ignition switch to RUN position. Follow scan tool manufacturer's instructions to configure RCM for side air bag option required.
  2. On models equipped with side air bags, select AIR BAG CONFIGURATION 12. On models equipped without side air bags, select AIR BAG CONFIGURATION 13. On all models, turn ignition switch to OFF position and remove scan tool. Prove out system. See PROVE OUT SYSTEM . If AIR BAG warning light flash codes are present during prove, go to diagnostic trouble code identification table for direction to appropriate test. See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE (DTC) IDENTIFICATION  table.
