Steering Column: Assembly

  1. Install the shift cable bracket and the 2 bolts.

  2. Install the gearshift lever and the screw.

  3. NOTE: Make sure the pocket in the inhibitor for the brake shift interlock solenoid plunger is free of grease and debris.
    NOTE: Place the gear shift lever in the lowest gear position.

  4. Fully insert the inhibitor into the cavity and install the inhibitor spring.
    • Apply grease to the outer surfaces of the inhibitor and in the inhibitor spring pocket.
  5. Install the brake shift interlock solenoid.
    • Simultaneously insert the park position switch and the brake shift interlock solenoid.
    • Connect the clip.

  6. Install the clockspring mounting bracket and the 3 screws.

  7. NOTE: Place the ignition key in the OFF position.

  8. Install the ignition switch and the screw.
  9. Install the multifunction switch. For additional information, Refer to STEERING COLUMN SWITCHES .
  10. Install the clockspring. For additional information, Refer to SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEM .
  11. Install the steering wheel. For additional information, refer to STEERING WHEEL .
  12. Install the steering column. For additional information, refer to STEERING COLUMN .
