Door Alignment

WARNING: To avoid accidental deployment and possible injury, the backup power supply must be depleted before repairing or replacing any front or side air bag supplemental restraint system (SRS) component and before removing, replacing, adjusting, or striking components near the front or side air bag sensors, such as doors, instrument panel, console, door latches, strikers, seats, and hood latches.

    FRONT AND REAR DOOR 

  1. Disconnect the battery ground cable and wait at least one minute.
  2. Remove the door latch striker plate.

  3. FRONT DOOR IN AND OUT, UP AND DOWN ADJUSTMENT 

  4. Loosen, but do not remove, the front door hinge-to-front door bolts enough to allow door adjustment.

  5. FRONT DOOR FORE, AFT AND TILT ADJUSTMENT 

  6. Loosen, but do not remove, the upper front door hinge-to-body fasteners enough to allow door adjustment.

  7. If adjusting the driver side, remove the hood release lever.
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Position aside the hood release lever.

  8. Remove the front door scuff plate.

  9. Partially remove the front door weatherstrip.
  10. Remove the lower cowl trim panel.
    1. Remove the pin-type retainer.
    2. Remove the lower cowl trim panel.

  11. If adjusting the driver side, remove the hood release mechanism.
    1. Remove the screw.
    2. Position aside the hood release mechanism.

  12. Disconnect the ground wires.

  13. Position aside the weather shield and loosen, but do not remove, the front door lower hinge nut.

  14. Loosen, but do not remove, the lower front door hinge-to-body fasteners enough to allow door adjustment.

  15. REAR DOOR FORE, AFT AND TILT ADJUSTMENT 

  16. Remove the front door scuff plate.

  17. Remove the rear door scuff plate.

  18. Remove the upper and lower B-pillar trim panel. For additional information, refer to BODY SYSTEM - INTERIOR .
  19. Loosen, but do not remove, the rear door hinge-to-body fasteners just enough to allow door adjustment.

  20. REAR DOOR, IN AND OUT, UP AND DOWN ADJUSTMENT 

  21. Loosen, but do not remove, the rear door hinge-to-rear door fasteners enough to allow door adjustment.

  22. FRONT AND REAR DOOR 

  23. Adjust the door.
  24. Tighten the door fasteners.
  25. Reassemble the system.
  26. Install and adjust the door striker as necessary.
  27. Connect the battery ground cable.
