Auxiliary Climate Control Housing, Assembly and Components

CAUTION:
This engine is equipped with a cold side thermostat. Whenever the engine block or the front or rear (auxiliary) heater cores have been drained, fill and bleed procedures must be carried out or damage to the engine can occur. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING

NOTE:
Installation of a new receiver/drier is not required when repairing the air conditioning system except when there is physical evidence of contamination from a failed A/C compressor or damage to the receiver/drier.
NOTE:
New O-ring seals, lubricated in clean PAG oil, must be installed before reconnecting any A/C fitting which has been disconnected.
NOTE:
Clean and lubricate the coolant hoses with plain water only if needed.
- Position the vehicle on a hoist with the gear selector in NEUTRAL.
- Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
- Remove the LH quarter trim panel. For additional information, refer to BODY SYSTEM - INTERIOR .
- Remove the components in the order indicated in the following illustration.

- To install, reverse the removal procedure.
- Lubricate the refrigerant system with the correct amount of clean PAG oil. For additional information, refer to REFRIGERANT OIL ADDING .
- Fill the engine cooling system. For additional information, refer to ENGINE COOLING .
- Evacuate, leak test and charge the refrigerant system. For additional information, refer to AIR CONDITIONING (A/C) SYSTEM RECOVERY, EVACUATION AND CHARGING .
Item 3: Clamp Removal Note
- Using a suitable tool, clamp-off and disconnect the heater hoses.
- After disconnecting the heater hoses, allow the coolant to drain from the auxiliary heater core to avoid coolant spilling inside the passenger compartment.
