Steering Gear - Power: Disassembly

  1. Remove the steering gear. For additional information, refer to STEERING GEAR - 4X2  or STEERING GEAR - 4X4 .
  2. Position the steering gear in a soft-jawed vice.
  3. Make marks to index the tie-rods end and jam nuts for reference during installation.
  4. Loosen the jam nuts and remove the tie-rod ends.
    • Remove and discard the jam nuts.

  5. Remove the clamps and the bellows boots.
    • Discard the clamps.

  6. While holding the steering gear rack, remove and discard the tie-rods.
