WARNING: A garage door opening system that cannot stop or reverse itself after detecting an object in its path does not meet current federal safety standards. To decrease the risk of serious injury or death, do not use this HomeLink(R) transmitter with a door opening system that lacks stop and reverse features as required by federal standards. This includes any garage door opening system manufactured before April 1, 1982. For more information, call HomeLink(R) customer assistance at 1-800-355-3515.
CAUTION: During this procedure, the system that you are programming will be made to operate. Make sure that people or objects are clear of the garage door or gate being programmed.
  1. Select a HomeLink(R) button to train.
  2. NOTE: If more than one button is pressed, priority will be given to the lowest numbered channel.
  3. Press and continuously hold the button for 20 seconds. CHANNEL X TRANSMIT will be displayed (X will be 1, 2 or 3) during this time.
  4. NOTE: If the channel being trained has not been previously trained, the channel will immediately enter training mode (no 20 second delay).
  5. After 20 seconds, the display will read CHANNEL X TRAINING to indicate training has started.
  6. Point the original garage door opener transmitter at the overhead console. Hold down the original transmitter's transmit button so the overhead console can learn the original transmitter's frequency and data stream.
  7. Training will be completed in 100 seconds or less. CHANNEL X TRAINED will be displayed when training is complete. DID NOT TRAIN will be displayed if the channel did not correctly train.
  8. NOTE: Additional training may be required for rolling code equipped devices. Refer to ROLLING CODE PROGRAMMING .
  9. Release the channel X button. Training is complete.
