Pinpoint Test A: The Shift Interlock System Does Not Release/Lock Correctly
Test Step
A1 CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE SHIFT LOCK ACTUATOR - CIRCUIT 810 (RD/LG)
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Shift Lock Actuator C232.
- Key in ON position.
- Apply the brake pedal.
- Measure the voltage between the shift lock actuator C232 pin 1, circuit 810 (RD/LG), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts
Result / Action to Take
Yes
INSTALL a new shift lock actuator.
REFER to BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
GO to A2.
Test Step
A2 CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE SHIFT LOCK ACTUATOR - CIRCUIT 511 (LG)
- Apply the brake pedal.
- Measure the voltage between Fuse 20, circuit 511 (LG) and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
REPAIR circuit 810 (RD/LG). RECONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 511 (LG). RECONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
A3 CHECK THE POWER SUPPLY TO THE SHIFT LOCK ACTUATOR - CIRCUIT 296 (WH/VT)
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: Shift Lock Actuator C232.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the shift lock actuator C232 pin 3, circuit 296 (WH/VT), harness side and ground.
- Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
GO to A4.
No
REPAIR circuit 296 (WH/VT). RECONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation.
Test Step
A4 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the shift lock actuator C232 pin 2, circuit 57 (BK), harness side and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Result / Action to Take
Yes
INSTALL a new shift lock actuator. REFER to BRAKE SHIFT INTERLOCK ACTUATOR . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
REPAIR circuit 57 (BK). RECONNECT all components. TEST the system for normal operation.
