Removal and Installation

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Drain the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
  3. Recover the refrigerant. For additional information, refer to BATTERY, MOUNTING AND CABLES .
  4. Remove the fan shroud. For additional information refer to COOLING FAN SHROUD .
  5. Disconnect the A/C high pressure switch electrical connector.
  6. Remove the condenser inlet tube nut.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  7. Disconnect the condenser inlet tube.
    • Release the condenser inlet tube from the retaining clips and position aside.
    • To install, use new O-rings lubricated in clean PAG oil.
  8. Disconnect the electric cooling fan electrical connector.
  9. Remove the condenser outlet tube nut.
    • To install, tighten to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).
  10. Disconnect the condenser outlet tube.
    • Disconnect the condenser outlet tube and position aside.
    • To install, use new O-rings lubricated in clean PAG oil.
  11. NOTE: If equipped, remove the safety retainer from the connectors and set aside for installation.
  12. Using the special tool, disconnect the quick couplers on the oil cooler tubes.
    • To install, connect the fittings and pull on them to make sure they are fully engaged.

  13. Disconnect the lower radiator hose from the radiator.
  14. NOTE: LH shown, RH similar.

  15. Remove the 4 push pins from the lower radiator splash shield and remove the shield.
  16. Remove the 2 cooling module retainers.
  17. NOTE: Lift the cooling module up and toward the engine to remove it from the vehicle.
  18. Remove the cooling module.
  19. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
  20. Fill and bleed the cooling system. For additional information, refer to COOLING SYSTEM DRAINING, FILLING AND BLEEDING .
