Principles of Operation: Notes

The exterior mirrors are electrically controlled by the exterior mirror control switch for both vertical and horizontal movement. The exterior mirror control switch is hardwired to the driver door module (DDM). When the LH exterior mirror is selected, adjustment is carried out by moving the control switch to the desired position. The DDM receives the adjustment command from the exterior mirror control switch and supplies voltage and ground to the appropriate LH exterior mirror motor to adjust the LH exterior mirror. The RH exterior mirror is controlled by the front electronic module (FEM). When the DDM receives an adjustment command for the RH exterior mirror from the exterior mirror control switch, the DDM interprets the command and sends the adjustment command over the standard corporate protocol (SCP) communication network to the FEM. The FEM interprets the command and supplies voltage and ground to the appropriate RH exterior mirror motor to adjust the RH exterior mirror.
