Removal and Installation

NOTE: The speed control sensor is also known as the forward looking sensor.
NOTE: If a new speed control sensor is installed, the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM) automatically configures the speed control sensor. The vertical and horizontal alignment procedures will need to be carried out to align the sensor.

Speed control sensor or bracket 

  1. With the vehicle in NEUTRAL, position it on a hoist. For additional information, refer to JACKING & LIFTING .
  2. Remove the front lower air deflector. For additional information, refer to BUMPERS .
  3. Remove the speed control sensor fascia cover by pulling straight forward (early build) or remove the front bumper cover (late build). For additional information, refer to BUMPERS .

    Speed control sensor only 

  4. Remove the 2 nuts, the adjustment screw and the speed control sensor.
    • To install, tighten the nuts to 5 Nm (44 lb-in).
    • Disconnect the electrical connector.

    Bracket only 

  5. When replacing the bracket, disconnect the speed control electrical connector.
  6. Remove the 3 bolts and the speed control sensor bracket assembly.
    • To install, tighten the speed control sensor nut to 8 Nm (71 lb-in).

  7. To install, reverse the removal procedure. Do not install the speed control sensor fascia cover (early build) or the front bumper cover (late build) until the alignment procedures are carried out.
