Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM)

The Front Controls Interface Module (FCIM) acts as a customer interface with the audio system. For vehicles without navigation, the FCIM only controls the audio functions. When a switch is pressed, a message is broadcast over the MS-CAN to any module able to receive the signal.

For vehicles with navigation, the FCIM controls the audio and climate control systems. All of the switches on the panel are part of the FCIM, so it is necessary for the module to send messages over the MS-CAN when any switch (audio, climate control, etc.) is pressed. When a climate control switch is pressed, the HVAC module sends a message back to the FCIM to illuminate the correct switches to indicate the status of the climate control.
