Removal and Installation

NOTE: This step is necessary only if the Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module is being replaced.
NOTE: Prior to the replacement of the module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
NOTE: The Programmable Module Installation (PMI) process does not include the Intelligent Access (IA) key programming into the new Remote Function Actuator (RFA) module. After the PMI process has been completed, the IA keys need to be programmed into the new RFA module during ignition off. For additional information, refer to Key Programming Using Diagnostic Equipment - Intelligent Access (IA) in ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) . After the IA keys have been programmed into the new RFA module, the ignition must be turned to the ON mode in order to reset the parameters in the new RFA module and the PCM. For additional information, refer to Passive Anti-Theft System (PATS) Parameter Reset - Intelligent Access (IA) in ANTI-THEFT - PASSIVE ANTI-THEFT SYSTEM (PATS) .
  1. Upload the module configuration information from the RFA module. For additional information, refer to MODULE CONFIGURATION .
  2. Remove the glove compartment. For additional information, refer to INSTRUMENT PANEL AND CONSOLE .
  3. Disconnect the 5 RFA module electrical connectors.
  4. Remove the 3 screws and the RFA module and bracket assembly.
  5. NOTE: It may be necessary to configure the factory set 5-digit permanent entry code from the Smart Junction Box (SJB) into the new RFA module. If this does not occur, DTC U2100:55 will set, indicating the module configuration is not complete (there is no entry code in the RFA module). A new RFA module does not come equipped with a factory set 5-digit permanent entry code and the entry code from the SJB must be configured into the new RFA module in order for the entry codes in both the RFA module and the SJB to match. If the entry codes do not match (or, the entry code in the RFA module is missing), the keyless entry keypad may not operate correctly. For additional information, refer to HANDLES, LOCKS, LATCHES AND ENTRY SYSTEMS . This will not occur during Programmable Module Installation (PMI).
  6. To install, reverse the removal procedure.
