Pinpoint Test G: The Stability/Traction Control System Is Inoperative

NOTE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.
  1. G1 VERIFY THAT THE SYSTEM CAN BE ENABLED/DISABLED BY THE STABILITY/TRACTION CONTROL SWITCH
    • Test drive the vehicle, press the stability/traction control switch and verify that the system can be enabled/disabled by the switch.
    • Can the system be enabled/disabled by the switch?
      • Yes  : EXPLAIN correct system operation to the customer.
      • No  : GO to G2.
  2. G2 CHECK FOR ABS MODULE, PCM AND IPC DTCs
  3. G3 VERIFY THE ABS MODULE CONFIGURATION
    • Configure the ABS module. Refer to Programmable Module Installation (PMI) in MODULE CONFIGURATION .
    • Test drive the vehicle and verify that the traction control system operates correctly.
    • Does the system operate correctly?
      • Yes  : The concern was due to improper or incomplete ABS module configuration.
      • No  : GO to G4.
  4. G4 CHECK THE SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
    • Disconnect: FCIMC2403.
    • Disconnect: IPCC220.
    • Measure the resistance between IPCC220-18, circuit CCA15 (YE/GY), harness side and ground.

    • Is the resistance greater than 10, 000 ohms?
      • Yes  : GO to G5.
      • No  : REPAIR circuit CCA15 (YE/GY). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test.
  5. G5 CHECK FOR CORRECT FCIM OPERATION
    • Disconnect: FCIMC2403.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion.
      • pushed-out pins.
      • spread terminals.
    • Connect the FCIM connector and make sure it seats correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
      • Yes  : INSTALL a new FCIM. REFER to INFORMATION AND ENTERTAINMENT SYSTEMS . CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
      • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the self-test. TEST the system for normal operation.
