Ignition Coil-On-Plug: Installation

1.

Inspect the ignition coil-on-plug rubber boot assembly for cracks, rips, or tears. Replace any damaged coil-on-plug rubber boots.

NOTE: Apply a small amount of silicone brake caliper grease and dielectric compound to the inside of the ignition coil-on-plug boots before installation. Material: Motorcraft® Silicone Brake Caliper Grease and Dielectric Compound / XG-3-A (ESE-M1C171-A).

Install the ignition coil-on-plugs and the ignition coil-on-plug mounting bolts. Tighten the ignition coil-on-plug mounting bolts in the following 2 stages.
- Stage 1: tighten to 7 Nm (62 lb-in).
- Stage 2: tighten an additional 50 degrees.

Connect the ignition coil-on-plug electrical connectors and connect the high-pressure fuel pump electrical connector.

NOTE: When removing or installing the fuel injection pump noise insulator, spreading the openings will reduce the risk of damage.

Install the fuel injection pump noise insulator.

Remove the oil filler cap and install the engine appearance cover. Install the oil filler cap.
