Transmission Range Control Module (TRCM): Removal

  1. NOTE: When replacing the TRCM, it is necessary to initiate "Default to Park".

    1. Turn key on, engine off.
    2. Open driver's door and leave open.
    3. Shift the vehicle to R by pressing the R on the GSM.
    4. NOTE: Release the locking tab on the TRCM electrical connector before disconnecting.

      Disconnect the TRCM and wait approximately 5 seconds until "Default to Park" initiates.

    5. Turn key off and close driver's door.

  2. NOTE: Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or engine components.

    1. Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from the studs.
    2. After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.

  3. Detach the degas bottle hose retainer, the degas bottle retainers and position the degas bottle aside.

  4. Disconnect the selector lever cable from the TRCM, remove the bolt and the selector lever cable clip and position the selector lever cable aside.

  5. Disconnect the electrical connector and the wiring harness retainer.

  6. Remove the TRCM nut.

  7. Remove the bolts and the TRCM.
