Side Obstacle Detection Control Module: Removal

NOTE: This step is only necessary if the SODL or SODR is being replaced.NOTE: If installing a new module, it is necessary to upload the module configuration information to the scan tool prior to removing the module. This information must be downloaded into the new module after installation.NOTE: If a side obstacle detection control module did not respond to the diagnostic scan tool, As-Built Data may need to be entered as part of the repair.
Using a diagnostic scan tool, begin the PMI (programmable module installation) process for the SODL or SODR following the on-screen instructions.

Remove the rear wheel and tire. Refer to Wheels And Tires System

Remove the rear quarter panel moulding. Refer to: Exterior Trim And Ornamentation
- Remove the inner wheel liner to rear bumper cover screws.
- Remove the nuts, the pin-type retainers and the rear inner quarter panel liner.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the bolt.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors.
- Remove the push pins and the bolts.
- Position the required side of the rear bumper cover outward and rearward.

NOTE: The following step is only necessary if a new component is being installed.
Remove the nut, the screws and the side obstacle detection control module bracket.
