Selector Lever Cable: Installation

  1. Position the selector lever cable in the vehicle.

  2. Attach the selector lever cable to the selector lever cable bracket.

  3. Install the selector lever cable retaining clip bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  4. Attach the selector lever cable to the TRCM lever.

  5. Install the RH fender splash shield. Refer to: Fender Splash Shield
  6. Attach the selector lever cable.

    1. Attach the selector lever cable from the retainer.
    2. Attach the selector lever cable retainer.

  7. Install the selector lever cable nut.

  8. Attach the selector lever cable to the selector lever cable bracket.

  9. Install the selector cable retaining clip bolt.

    Torque: 62 lb.in (7 Nm)

  10. NOTE: Do not install the air cleaner at this time.

    Install the battery tray. Refer to: Battery Tray

  11. Using the diagnostic scan tool select the cable adjustment mode.
  12. NOTE: The GSM will alternate flashing D or N and S simultaneously.

    Press D on the GSM.

  13. NOTE: Verify D is illuminated on the IPC.

    Position the manual control lever in D.

    1. Rotate the manual control lever counterclockwise until it stops.
    2. Rotate the manual control lever 3 detents into D.

  14. Unlock the adjuster.

    1. Move the slide to the left.
    2. While holding the slide, position the adjuster lock upward.

  15. Connect the selector lever cable to the transmission manual lever.

  16. Snap the adjuster lock into place.

  17. Press P on the GSM.

  18. Clear any DTCs.
  19. Shift the transmission through the ranges starting in P, then R, then N, then D, then N, then R and then back to P.
  20. Check for DTCs.
  21. Disconnect the scan tool.
  22. Install the air cleaner. Refer to: Air Cleaner 2.7L EcoBoost . Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.0L EcoBoost . Refer to: Air Cleaner 3.7L Duratec
  23. Verify that the vehicle starts in P and N only and that the reverse lamps illuminate in R.
