Liftgate Alignment

Inspection 

  1. Check liftgate to body dimensions. Refer to: Body and Frame .
    1. If dimensions are OK, liftgate alignment is not necessary. Continue to Striker Adjustment.
    2. If liftgate alignment is necessary continue to

      Adjustment  .

Adjustment 

Liftgate left and right, up and down alignment 

  1. Remove the luggage cover.

    1. If equipped, disconnect the DSP electrical connectors.
    2. Remove the pin-type retainers and the LH utility bin.

  3. Remove the liftgate opening trim panel.
    1. Remove the screws.
    2. Remove the pin-type retainers.
    3. Release the clips and remove the liftgate opening trim panel.

  4. Remove the bolts and liftgate striker.

  5. Loosen the bolts.

  6. Adjust the liftgate up/down and left/right.

  7. Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  8. Install the bolts and the liftgate striker.

  9. Adjust the liftgate striker.
  10. Install the removed components.

    Liftgate in and out alignment 

  11. Remove the luggage cover.

  13. Remove the liftgate opening trim panel.
    1. Remove the screws.

    3. Release the clips and remove the liftgate opening trim panel.

  14. Remove the C-pillar trim panels. Refer to: C-Pillar Trim Panel .
  15. NOTE: RH front shown, all others similar.

    Remove the rear grab handles.

  16. Remove the pin-type retainers and lower the rear of the headliner.

  17. Loosen the liftgate hinge nuts.

  18. Remove the bolts and the liftgate striker.

  19. Adjust the liftgate stops in and out on both sides.

  21. Tighten the liftgate hinge nuts.

    Torque: 41 lb.ft (55 Nm)

  22. Install the bolts and the liftgate striker.

  23. Adjust the liftgate striker.
  24. Install the removed components.

    Power Liftgate 

  25. Perform the power liftgate initialization. Refer to: Power Liftgate Initialization  .
