Liftgate Alignment

Interior Trim Remover

Materials

Seam SealerTA-2-B, 3M™ 08308, LORD Fusor® 805DTM -

Inspection 

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.
  1. Check liftgate-to-body dimensions.

Adjustment 

All alignments 

  1. Open the liftgate.

  2. Remove the luggage compartment floor covering.

  3. Remove the luggage compartment spare tire cover.

  4. Position the liftgate opening weatherstrip aside.

  5. Remove the liftgate scuff plate trim panel.

    1. Release the liftgate scuff plate trim panel clips. Use the General Equipment: Interior Trim Remover
    2. If equipped Disconnect the keyless entry rear antenna electrical connector.

  6. Remove the liftgate striker.

    Torque: 18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

    Liftgate left and right, up and down alignment 

  7. Loosen the bolts. Loosen: : 2 turn(s)

  8. Carefully close the liftgate.

  9. Adjust the liftgate as required.

  10. Carefully open the liftgate.

  11. Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

    Liftgate in and out alignment 

  12. Adjust the stops.

  13. On both sides

    1. Remove the retainer.
    2. Gently pull and remove the drip moulding cover.

  14. On both sides Remove the hinge cover.

  15. Carefully close the liftgate.

  16. On both sides Loosen the bolts. Loosen: : 2 turn(s)

  17. Adjust the liftgate as required.

  18. On both sides Tighten the bolts.

    Torque: 22 lb.ft (30 Nm)

  19. On both sides Apply seam sealer.

    Material: Seam Sealer / TA-2-B, 3M™ 08308, LORD Fusor® 805DTM

    All alignments 

  20. Inspect the body-to-liftgate door dimensions.

  21. Install the position aside and removed components.
  22. If equipped with power liftgate, carry out the power liftgate initialization. Refer to: Power Liftgate Initialization .
