Air Cleaner - Thermostatic: Operation

When engine is cold, thermostat device senses low air temperature and closes air door to prevent entry of cold, outside air. At this point, only heated air from inside the exhaust manifold shroud enters carburetor.

As thermostatic device senses warmer engine compartment temperatures, it begins to close off air door to heated air and allows outside air into carburetor.
