System Function Test: Notes

Actuator on turbocharged models cannot be checked using ACC Tester (49 9200 010). SeeFig 1 . Turbocharged models can be tested with an ohmmeter only. When checking actuator on models with automatic transmission, the checker must be modified by cutting lead wire at terminal No. 6 of ACC checker connector and taping the end. Install a small jumper wire on the harness side between terminals No. 3 and No. 6. SeeFig 2 . The main switch, actuator-VAC, actuator-VENT 2, actuator-VENT 1, clutch/brake switch, combination/inhibitor switch (automatic transaxle models), and generator are verified by check lights on tester.

Tester has a check switch and a slide switch. Check switch test actuator operation with engine running. When switch is held on with engine running, engine speed is increased and held at 2000-3000 RPM. If RPMs do not increase, adjust free play of actuator inner cable. Free play for all models is .004-.012" (1.0-3.0 mm). On RX7 models, slide switch should be moved to "H" position before check switch is used. On all other models, slide switch should be in "L" position.

NOTE: When installing ACC tester, turn ignition and main switch off. When performing all testing steps, main and ignition switches must be in "ON" position. Generator light can be on or off during testing.
