Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation

Model 929S (DOHC engine) is equipped with an electrically operated speedometer which calculates and displays vehicle speed based on signals from a transmission mounted speed sensor. Driven by the transmission mainshaft, the sensor produces a signal of 20 pulses per shaft rotation. In addition to its speedometer function, the speed signal is utilized for a variety of ECU output calculations.
