Measuring Rear Axle Speed Sensor Clearance

  1. Measure distance "A" between sensor rotor teeth and sensor attaching surface. See Figure . Measure distance "B" between sensor attaching surface and sensor metal tip.
  2. Subtract measurement "B" from measurement "A" to get specified clearance. See SPEED SENSOR CLEARANCE SPECIFICATIONS table. If clearance is less than specification, adjust during installation using Adjustment Shim (P049-27-155). If clearance exceeds specification, replace speed sensor.
