Vehicle Speed Sensor: Description and Operation


Purpose
Provides vehicle speed signal to operate speedometer/odometer. From instrument cluster, speed signal is sent to powertrain control module engine (PCME) for calculations requiring this input.

Operation
Sensor is an alternating current generator. Voltage output varies with vehicle speed.
