DTC 61: Abs Control Module

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Mazda Millenia and 1995 Mazda Millenia. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check if DTC 15 is also displayed with DTC 61. If DTC 15 is also displayed with DTC 61, go to next step. If DTC 15 is not displayed with DTC 61, replace ABS control module.
  2. Check all wheel speed sensors. See WHEEL SPEED SENSOR under COMPONENT TESTING. Replace as necessary. If wheel speed sensors are okay, check wiring harness for open or short to ground between each wheel speed sensor and ABS control module. Repair as necessary and go to next step. If wiring harness is okay, go to next step.
  3. Clear DTCs. See CLEARING CODES  under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. Recheck for DTCs. If DTC 61 is displayed, replace ABS control module. If DTC 61 is not displayed, a temporary poor contact in wiring may have occurred and ABS is now functioning properly.
