Traction Control System (TCS) Operation Check
NOTE:
With ignition on, TCS is always on unless manually turned off by depressing TCS OFF switch.
- Perform operation check to determine if TCS if functioning properly. Place front wheels on a chassis roller or raise and support front of vehicle. Start engine. Observe TCS OFF indicator light, located on right side of instrument cluster. TCS OFF indicator light should be off.NOTE: If engine cooling system temperature is extremely low, TCS control is temporarily interrupted until engine coolant temperature increases. If this occurs, TCS OFF indicator light will turn on.
- If TCS OFF indicator light and TCS warning light stay on after engine is started, system has detected a failure. Turn ignition off. Retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) and perform appropriate test. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING. If TCS OFF indicator light and TCS warning light are off, go to next step.
- Place transaxle shift lever in Drive position. Depress accelerator for about 5 seconds. Engine speed should be held at low RPM and TCS warning light should flash indicating TCS is regulating engine torque. If TCS functions as specified, system is functioning properly at this time. If TCS does not function as specified, perform appropriate trouble shooting test.
