Engine Coolant Temperature Compensation Inspection

- Connect WDS or equivalent to the DLC-2.
- Select ECT, IAT, RPM PIDs.
- Verify engine is cold, then start engine.
- Verify engine speed decreases as engine warms up. If engine speed does not decrease or decreases slowly, inspect following:
- ECT sensor and related harness. Refer to ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE SENSOR under ENGINE SENSORS & SWITCHES in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MAZDA6, MIATA, MPV, PROTEGE & PROTEGE5 article.
- Electronic throttle body and related harness. Refer to THROTTLE ACTUATOR under IDLE CONTROL in SYSTEM & COMPONENT TESTING - MAZDA6, MIATA, MPV, PROTEGE & PROTEGE5 article.
