Refrigerant System Performance Test

- Perform refrigerant pressure check. See REFRIGERANT PRESSURE CHECK .
- If not as specified, troubleshoot refrigerant system. See TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX .
- If they are correct, go to next step.
- Place a dry-bulb thermometer in the driver-side center ventilator outlet.
- Open the hood.
- Warm up the engine and run it at a constant 1,500 rpm.
- Set the fan switch to 4th speed.
- Turn the A/C switch on.
- Set the RECIRCULATE mode.
- Set the temperature control to MAX COLD.
- Set the VENT mode.
- Close all the doors and all the windows.
- Wait until the center ventilator temperature stabilizes. The output temperature is stable when the A/C compressor is repeatedly turned on and off based on the A/C compressor control of evaporator temperature sensor.
- Measure the center ventilator temperature.
- Measure the ambient temperature.
- Verify that the intersection of the center ventilator temperature and the ambient temperature is in the shaded zone.
- If not as specified, troubleshoot the refrigerant system. See TROUBLESHOOTING INDEX .
