Side Air Bag Module Removal/Installation

WARNING:
- Handling the air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See SERVICE WARNINGS .) (See SERVICE CAUTIONS .)
- If the side air bag module is installed with a debris in the seat back, the foreign body may be scattered when the side air bag module operates (deploys), causing injury. Verify that there is no foreign body in the seat back before installing the side air bag module.
CAUTION:
- For vehicles with the two-step deployment air bag system, when the passenger's seat is removed, perform the seat weight sensor inspection using the WDS or equivalent after installing the passenger's seat. (See SEAT WEIGHT SENSOR INSPECTION (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .)
- Remove the front seat. (See FRONT SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION .)
- Remove the under tray. (Passenger's side)
- Remove the harness clips.
- Undo the hook on the seat back cushion.
- Unzip the seat back trim.
- Remove the hog rings.
- Remove the harness clip.
- Remove the seat under bracket.
- Unhook the belts.
- Turn over the seat back cushion.
- Remove the nuts to remove the side air bag module.WARNING:
- If the air bag harness is not secured at the marked point or the harness is caught, the side air bag module may fail to operate (deploy) in an accident, causing a serious accident. Be sure to secure the air bag harness at the marked point, and make sure the harness is not caught during operation of the seat.
- Install in the reverse order of removal.
- Turn the ignition switch to ON position.
- Verify that the air bag system warning light illuminates for approx. 6 s and then goes off.
- If the air bag system warning light does not operate in the manner described above, there are malfunctions in the system. Inspect the system using the on-board diagnostic function. (See FOREWORD (STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .) (See FOREWORD (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM) .)
