SAS Control Module: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2002 Mazda MPV. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. To install, reverse removal procedure. Ensure that SAS control module is installed with arrow pointing toward front of vehicle. Tighten fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
  2. After SAS control module is installed, activate air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM . If a NEW SAS control module is being installed, go to next step.
  3. Verify that AIR BAG warning light flashes continuously approximately 6 seconds after ignition is turned to ON position. Turn ignition switch to LOCK position. Wait at least one second and turn ignition switch to on position. Ensure AIR BAG warning light does not flash continuously after approximately 6 seconds.
  4. If procedure is performed correctly, AIR BAG warning light should come on and then turn off after approximately 6 seconds. If AIR BAG warning light does not turn off, repeat step  3.
