Key Programming (Using Diagnostic Equipment)

NOTE: This procedure is used when a customer needs to have an additional key programmed into vehicle without erasing stored key codes. If eight keys are programmed, this procedure will not allow any further ignition keys to be programmed without erasing all stored keys first.
  1. Turn ignition switch from OFF to RUN position using NEW, unprogrammed ignition key. Using NGS tester, select PCM on service function menu. Select SECURITY ACCESS PROCEDURE. This procedure will take 10 minutes to perform. From diagnostic tool menu, select IGNITION KEY CODE PROGRAM.
  2. Turn ignition switch to OFF position. Disconnect NGS tester. Attempt to start vehicle with new ignition key. If vehicle fails to start, repeat procedure.
