Assembly Note

  1. Lubricate the new piston pin and new piston pin bore.
    • Use SAE 5W20 engine oil.

  2. NOTE:
    • During assembly the small end of the connecting rod must be heated to 232°-316°C (450°-600°F).

  3. Using Piston Pin Tool SST 303-D034 or equivalent, press the piston pin into the piston and the connecting rod.
  4. NOTE:
    • Lubricate the piston and the piston rings with SAE engine oil 5W20.
    NOTE:
    • Use a suitable ring expander to install the piston rings. Ensure ring end gaps are equally spaced around the circumference of the piston for all piston rings.

  5. Install the second oil control ring.
  6. Install the oil control spacer ring.

  7. Install the first oil control ring.

  8. Install the second compression ring.

  9. Install the top compression ring.

  10. Check piston ring end gap and ring-to-groove side clearance. Refer to PISTON INSPECTION .
