Transmission Range Sensor

  1. Place gearshift lever in "N" position. Remove manual control lever. Loosen Transmission Range (TR) sensor retaining bolts. Using Special Service Tool (SST) 49-UN01-086, adjust TR sensor adjuster. See Fig 1 . Tighten TR sensor retaining bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Install shift control lever, and tighten nut.
  2. Check for park gear engagement. Start engine and ensure indicated gear positions match transmission response. If operation is not okay, check shift cable adjustment. See SHIFT CABLE  . Verify vehicle only starts in "P" and "N" positions and back-up lights operate when in "R" position.
