Key Programming Switch State Control - NGS

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Mazda Tribute. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
NOTE:
  • The spare key programming switch is a NGS Tester programmable switch which provides the capability to enable/disable the customer spare key programming procedure. Refer to the Owner Literature spare key programming procedure or KEY PROGRAMMING USING TWO PROGRAMMED KEYS  . This programmable switch is provided as a convenience for customers who may not want the spare key programming procedure available to the vehicle driver.
NOTE:
  • The spare key programming switch state can be viewed by PID SPARE_KEY (with Version 9.0 card, the switch state "DISABL" = "ENABLE. This means the spare key programming procedure is accessible).
  1. Insert a programmed ignition key into the ignition lock cylinder and turn the ignition switch to RUN.
  2. From the NGS Tester menu, select PID SPARE_KEY to view the spare key programming switch state:
    • < DISABL > = Spare key programming procedure is accessible.
    • < ENABLE > = Spare key programming procedure is not accessible.
    NOTE:
    • The default setting on delivery of all new vehicles is < DISABL > (this means the spare key programming procedure is accessible).
  3. To change SPARE KEY PROGRAMMING SWITCH STATE, refer to ANTI-THEFT SECURITY ACCESS - NGS  .
